Jonan Portal Alvarez, BScE, MHSA
Jonan Portal Alvarez founded Alara Healthcare after nearly a decade turning claims, EHR, and population health data into measurable risk adjustment and value-based care results inside some of the country's largest health systems. He leads a national risk adjustment program portfolio for a multi-state health system, directing analytics delivery across markets and serving as risk adjustment lead on an enterprise population health platform implementation. Before that, as data steward of record for the Risk Adjustment and Quality departments of the Baptist Health Quality Network, he set the data standards behind programs that raised provider HCC assessment rates from 40% to 90% and surfaced $2M in recaptured opportunity used in payer contract negotiations. He holds a Master of Health Services Administration from Florida National University and a BS in Computer Science Engineering, and he built Alara Population Health to give independent practices the operating discipline he ran at enterprise scale.
He is the sole owner of Alara Healthcare. Alara One Care, which the company serves under a management services agreement, is separately owned and led; he holds no office in it.
